The Bruce Lee Physique

Bruce Lee’s physique is probably one of the most admired bodies in the history of films next to other legends like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Steve Reeves, and Brad Pitt in The Fight Club. His lightning quickness and shredded physique never ceases to amaze fans. The great thing about Bruce Lee’s physique is that he wasn’t overly muscular, he still cut a slim figure when he wore a suit.

However, when the shirt came off you could see that he had little body fat and the muscles seemed to pop out at you. You could practically see the muscle fibers as he let out his trademark scream and proceeded to kick ass.

One reason why Bruce Lee’s physique has timeless appeal is that in terms of size, his physique is just within the reach of the average Joe. Even though you may not be able to fight like Bruce Lee, you could at least look like him with a bit of dedication.

Bruce Lee’s routine was a mix of barbells and calisthenics along with traditional martial arts training. While Bruce Lee’s body was relatively well-proportioned, his chest and front delts over-powered his back somewhat. This is a common trait of many martial artists regardless of traditon since the major component of striking involves a lot of push and relatively little pull. Another outstanding feature of Bruce Lee’s body were his forearms whichare somewhat larger in proportion to his arms. This is also common to fighters since the forearms stabilize the wrist, thereby increasing the amount of force transferred to the target. However, Bruce Lee did train his forearms extensively and this is how he began to flirt with weight training, in particular bodybuilding.

In order to create this physique Bruce Lee also watched what he ate and never let himself get out of shape or bulk. Even though he passed away at the young age of 32, many people start to fall apart in their late 20s. However, Bruce Lee never slipped in terms maintaining his body. In future articles I’ll go into more detail about his routine.
